hello everyone i was curious about a coin that comes back as say vf but with environmental damage. does this affect the value extremely? Say a rare draped bust large cent? if you need more info than ill be happy to provide I just wanted some input

it would definitely affect the value depending on how bad the damage is. EAC would net grade it down from vf to F or lower depending on how bad it is.

 To CCF , Can you show us some photos of the coin ? If it's that rare should have some value , how much depends on the extent of the damage.

If you can show us pictures of the coin you are referring to, we can usually come up with some very exact recommendations and opinions.
Although environmental damage certainly hurts the value, it also reduces the number of potential buyers. Some collectors simply refuse to buy 'detailed' coins. Detailed meaning that the coin as a significant problem.
The amount and location of the damage makes a huge difference too. Plus, the coin it is on is greatly affected. If, for example, it were on an 1804 dated large cent the location of the damage, all by itself, could make a huge monetary difference.

@OP -- are you the one who had the issues w/a coin shop with the overdated Draped Bust?

How rare? A LOT of early copper has problems and EACers expect that and on a really rare variety there would still be a lot of demand. Of course a coin without environmental damage will always be worth more than one with it.
