I got a USB microscope today. Can't get the whole coin in a picture. First picture is the doubling in question. Second is a penny of the same date and mint without the doubling.

Any comments are always appreciated. Thanks.

Not a DDO, I will let others chime in on that. What scope do you have? You should be able to fit a whole dollar size coin in,mine does.

Its a Klaren 1000 x 8 LED 2MP USB digital microscope. Advice on getting the whole coin in the picture is appreciated.

John1, thanks for your comment.
Rest in Peace

Here's a thread active now @ MD doubling, that's what you have plus some die wear, go read about the size of letters.

I read that the Klaren only goes down to 200x when I think a scope should go from 5x to 200x max. You could try setting it at the lowest (200x) and putting the stand on top of a book and the coin under the lens and see what happens. You may need to adjust the height of the books.

Thanks John1. I removed the cantilever assembly from the platform, turned it 180 degrees and reattached to the platform. I put a small box under the unit and now I can get a picture of the whole coin.

They seem to be a target coin for faked toning on them:
