MC, you did just fine, applying logic (flawed it might be ) to a position and following it up with inductive (not deductive) reasoning. I also like someone else to pick a side and I'll argue against it, just to keep my wits sharpened. I also like to tackle conspiracy theorists who imagine a collusion between individuals wherein it just didn't happen. Like OJ on the grassy knoll as the third shooter. Or the Pentagon holed by something other than the third jet on 9/11. The problem with any conspiracy theory is the time it takes to research out the counter-arguments (it's easier to reference a website where this has already been done.). I also have a real problem with conspiracy theorists who see a conspiracy behind every tree; worse are those who blindly pass along these conspiracies via email. They tend to be lazy weak-minded lambs-to-slaughter types who believe everything they hear or read without taking the time or even having the intelligence to research the facts of a matter (witness the need for explanation sights such as snopes.com and Truth or Fiction.com). I just want to say to Morgan Fred and Mycrob, How can I tell who is right in your "argument". Don't either of you know the only way to win is use all capitol letters and call the other side names? According to Steven Colbert, whoever yells loudest wins. So I must conclude you are both part of the conspiracy keeping us in the dark about the "moon". It is not a natural satelite of the earth, but a giant camera put up by Conglomo Corp, (motto- We own You) to keep track of our buying patterns, the astronauts were just replacing the film. . Seriously though, why don't the people who do not believe in the landings build a telescope that can focus down enough to see the landing site. The hubble at that distance has a focus range where each pixel covers the size of a football field, and earth based scopes are not powerful enough or something. I went to a site a long time ago for a film called "A funny thing happened on the way to the moon." I think it was a serious site, but it had a top ten list of proof that we never went, and one of the reasons was Richard Nixon was president, and his nickname was "Tricky Dick". If that doesn't convince you naive believers, what will.

OK, Since the responses have slowed down quite a bit, I am going to edit the contest to end this Saturday. Make your final arguments by Saturday the 29th of June.

I will rest my case on the previously submitted written record. Remember, MM, your conscience is your guide. That Apollo 16 medal will look good on my wall.

Ok I'm going to have a go, I wasn't around for this, but I asked my dad what he thought, he only helped me a bit, he pretty much reminded me of this thing we went to see. the rest of this, is mine :P First, I think it did happen. of course the flag could face a certain and stay up, gravity would keep it up! and it most like wouldn't stay DEAD STILL, stuff floats? Ok: At Cooby Damn, just north of Toowoomba, near Crows Nest Shire, (Queensland, Australia) http://www.toowoombawater.com.au/wa...oby-dam.html is where one of the tracking stations for the Apollo 11 was located. My dad met this man who worked there during the Apollo mission! Now it's just some concrete slabs, We are driving passed there tomorrow, promise to take a picture or 2 and get it up on here. The equipment was still up when my parents moved to Toowoomba. There is also a more famous tracking station in Victoria, the move: 'The Dish' was made about it, I think. And you would be plain stupid to stage the moon landing?

Don't forget 'The Truman Show' and how all falsehoods crumble as people get older and wiser. Well, older anyway.

Well the contest is officially over. The good news is that I read that NASA has a project planned for November of this year to send a unmanned trip near the moon. Courtesy of Wikipedia - "The next lunar orbiter currently scheduled for launch is NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter mission, due to launch in November 2008, and will have the ability to photograph the historic landing sites." They also plan on another manned landing by 2019, so all us generation XY & Z'ers will see for ourselves. Unless they are going to fake those too. Just kidding... I read and re-read all the responses this morning. All responses were good, some very entertaining and some very factual. I would say that I although I did have questions on whether it happened, the responses here and the items I read during the contest has made me a believer. I guess I never thought of the fact that it was such a world event and that other countries were able to pick up signals from the mission. I also did not know about the three "retroreflector arrays left on the Moon by the Apollo program. Today, anyone on Earth with an appropriate laser and telescope system may bounce laser beams off these devices, verifying deployment of the Lunar Laser Ranging Experiment at historically documented Apollo moon landing sites." - (Also courtesy of Wikipedia) So I am going to pick two winners. The two winners based mostly on the amount of effort put forth. #1 : Morgan Fred #2 : MycrobI will send Morgan Fred a Email with the prize choices. What ever he does not pick will be Mycrob's prize. Thanks to everyone who participated.

Congrats to all...I wish I noticed this contest, because I knew about the lunar retroreflector that puts the conspiracy stories to rest.
