I am very new and just looking through my change when it comes into my pocket. I saw this and its different, can anyone tell me what this is? Above the Y around the rim.

Probably damaged then. It doesn't look anything like the design. It is lower than the fields. So contact or someone worked it over in a garage. Stuff happens and coins get damaged.

Could it be a minor struck through? If it were damage, I'd think it would affect the rim more.

Note the damage on the bust. It is close that area.
