The number 2 on Lincoln's chest? 1981 cent. I've been looking at this for over an hour, also the D looks odd. Would it have happened at the mint? Appreciate your time!

I'm seeing lots of PSD (post strike damage). no mint errors. Notice how the metal was pushed up? This was caused by a scrape or gouge to the coin. The top of the "2" is just a large gouge/hole shaped hit. All coincidental damage. Hope I helped! This is one of my few attempts at an educational image. (Posted below) Happy hunting!

Sorry, but it is just damage that "appears" to form something recognizable. The D looks fine to me.

to CCF!

Edit: CH27 beat me to it. Nice visual.

@AF72, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with the others that your cent has damage which is vaguely in the shape of a number 2. This coin is a spender.
