1967 No Mint Quarter - Coin Community Forum

ivdoll62 New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 06/07/2019 11:41 pm I came across this quarter in things my grandmother left to my mother; then it was passed on to me. I also have other coins. It's been about 18 years now and I know this quarter has never been out of the plastic sleeve. Can anyone tell me if this two-toned quarter is just worth a quarter. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 06/08/2019 2:01 pm If the coin was in the NE (new england area) a long time, the sulfur in the air can alter the color of a coin. If it was in a cello for a long time they can also turn colors. (usually not yellow) If it was in a soft flip, they can turn purple in color because of PVC damage. But the patterns remind me of a coin that was out in oil and partially dried, but some of the oil prevented the tarnish from happening, thus the differences in color. So without know how it was stored for years, it could be any ones of the events I mentioned. Report this Post to the Staff
