Could you explain why on my coin is different sequence "E PLURIBUS UNUM"? At standard coin text goes |******E|*PLURIBUS*|UNUM*****, and on my coin it is |******E*|PLURIBUS*|UNUM***** I have one US 20 dollar, double eagle, from 1927

Hello Dusan, and welcome to the forum!



As far as I know the edge letters and characters on the Saint-Gaudens double eagles did not change during the production years of 1907 - 1933, except for some of the early patterns and proofs from 1907. The 1927 Philadelphia coin is a common date in the series and should have the same edge as all the rest. By the way, be sure to check for a mintmark on your coin, which would be located above the date. No mintmark means it is the common Philadelphia coin. If there is a tiny S or D letter, you may have a very rare coin that could be worth a lot of money.
