Ditto. I'm sure another will come around, though.

Here's the obverse of the coin that was removed. I couldn't locate the reverse image.

Excellent example of a "Vampire" hub counterfeit. (see fang marks on neck) This hub was made from a 1795 off-center Bust B-14 dollar. The date was than ground off the hub and the hub ihas been used to create a LOT a dateless bust dollar dies. Then the different dates would be punched into the die and counterfeits made from them. This "Vampire" hub cam be found on fakes dated from 1795 to 1804. This hub has been in use a long time and some of the diagnostic features are fading out on more recent fakes.

the reverse had a round blob of metal near the M in America. Eagle didn't look quite right also.

Condor, good info. Is the hub still in use, and if not why not? Lost, seized, sold for scrap, broken over someone's head in a barfight?

Hard to say if it is still in use as I don't know who owns it. But Vampire counterfeits are becoming less prevalent, and some of the more recently seen ones as I mentioned have some of the diagnostic features weak or missing so I suspect the hub if it is still in use is not far from retirement. Of course if they still have the source coin they could always make another hub.
