Hi, I have just come across a 1971 USA One Cent Coin that looks like all the other coins posted on here but it has a second head imprinted on the front of the coin facing Lincoln just above the 1971.

Has anyone seen this coin before?

Yes, an extremely common counterstamp. I think there's a whole thread of just these!

It is indeed a counter stamp placed onto the coin after it left the mint. There are literally thousands of examples of these. Fun novelty if you wish to keep it but no real numismatic premium.

Yes that is a likeness of JFK. Here is a similar one still glued to the original packaging:

It should perhaps be explicitly stated: it's a private counterstamp. The Mint didn't put it there, the people who made those Lincoln-Kennedy souvenirs put it there.

While some collectors like to collect privately counterstamped coins, others see them simply as damaged coins. The people who do like to collect them, usually don't want to pay too much for them, so it adds very very little in terms of value.

To CCF! I agree, it's a counterstamp.

I've seen a few other counter stamp designs, too. Good novelty collection if you're into that kind of thing.
