My wife brought home a Mercury dime today and asked me to look it over. I am always trying to show her and the kids cool wheat pennies I find but this is my first Mercury dime. It has been in circulation and is rather worn but something about the obverse keeps making me question if it's just a normal dime or something more. The date stamped into it is off, it's touching the rim of the coin and the 40 almost seems as if it's a DDO when comparing it to the 19. Also, the lettering isn't spaced evenly from the rim the L and I have a clear gap whereas the R, T, and Y are practically on the rim as well. I don't have any experience with Mercury dimes or their errors so was hoping someone with a little more familiarity could be of assistance.
