Hello all,

I have a chance to buy the below coin, which the seller says is a 1918/7 - D overdate. It's in a PCI slab, so no way of searching the cert number.

This is the best image I can get of the date, close up. Does it look like the real deal to you all?

Judging by the appearance of the date area it is a genuine 18/17 in AG to G condition. The half moon top loop of the "8" in the date is one of the identifiers.

If the grade is close to what I think it is and If the price is right I could care less what holder the coin resides in.

Nice find!

Variety Vista shows an obverse marker, maybe that would help:

PCGS has images down to G04 grade:

That would be a pretty cool coin to own, if it's the real deal.

Looks promising, but a sharper image would really help.

Thanks for the help and thoughts everyone! This was at a local auction, final price was ~$350 with buyer's premium.

It did not go home with me, unfortunately, that price was too much for me to risk on a coin I'm not suoer familiar with.

But if it is real, then someone got a bit of a deal so I'm sure they're happy. On to the next one!
