Hello all, Was wondering if anyone can give me some information on 10 oz. CAL_AG marked silver bars. I picked up two of these hand poured bars years ago and just came across them in my stash, and can't find any information about them. Mostly interested in age and/or any history, and why on ebay are they going for twice the cost of spot? And in general why are some hand poured bars selling for so much over spot silver price? I guess I could understand some of the art bars, but the ones I am seeing are just hand stamped hand poured bars. Thank you.

@oden, any chance of you adding a pic or two of one of bars? Thx.

Not sure about your bar. I have a AG marked silver bar, Golden Analytical l think minted in Golden Colorado in 1980s, no longer in business. Some collect vintage silver bars and will pay more like Engelhard, also no longer in business. Some people pour their own bars.

The poured silver bar collectors are an odd group-as odd as us-and there are some that they go wild over. I don't understand, not that it matters. I am not aware of a catalogue but there has to be some list that identifies them by rarity level.

I found a site where a collector has posted his vintage bar collection. He has some cool old bars. I didn't see a CAL-AG though. You could contact him, he may know about it. I'm going to make a new topic with a link to his site since occasionally someone posts on CCF looking for info. https://vintagepouredbar.com/

I recently picked up 3 of these bars. I am interested if you ever found anything out about them?
Mine have an added stamp that says JES on it as well.
Any help would be appreciated?
I saw a couple sell on MineralExchange recently as well.

This link the owner describes it as California Silver, which makes sense. He also says they have had the bar 25 years. I wish I could find out more info on this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/326123412631

Looked them up on mineral exchange, they don't seem to carry much premium.
