Quote:Buyers on ebay can only get positive feedback- I think this is outrageous- what's the point? If ebay doesn't want them to get feedback, they should just not provide it for purchases, or replace it with "number of items bought". It is unfortunate, but a number of bad sellers ruined the feedback system due to bad behavior in the past. Feedback was sometimes used as retaliation for what was legitimate negative feedback from the buyer. For example, seller sends defective item and then is difficult with the return. Buyer leaves negative feedback so seller leaves retaliatory negative feedback. It hurts the buyer more because they often have lower overall feedback scores as more causal users. So ebay stepped in and said "look, really all the buyer is responsible for is paying". So they did away with negative feedback on the seller side. As I said, it mostly ruined the feedback system but people did it to themselves to a large degree.

The entire ebay feedback system needs to be scrapped . Totally one sided ,skewed towards the buyer .

I don't think that sellers abused the feedback more than buyers (when buyers could be given feedback)- some did on both sides. No system is perfect. I just find it annoying looking at 100% positive feedback of buyers who don't sell- there is no useful information in it. And I disagree that buyers were hurt by negative feedback- they really didn't, unless they were abusing the feedback system. Buyer can check the seller's feedback and decide that the seller is not a good seller and not buy. Sellers do not choose buyers, so the buyer's feedback was largely irrelevant. But everyone adjusts to the realities of whatever system is in place. Sellers lose some buyers because of either deserved or undeserved feedback. The sellers look at "feedback left for others" by buyers to decide if the buyer is a good buyer, life goes on.

I used to leave feedback, I used to expect feedback. The system is so watered down I don't bother leaving nor expecting. Hasn't seemed to matter for years.

Quote:Buyers on ebay can only get positive feedback- I think this is outrageous- what's the point? Exactly... ebay has rendered feedback scores absolutely meaningless by doing this. Only thing you can do is leave a "positive" feedback and then put in comments saying this is actually a negative feedback and describe the gripe with a particular buyer. Quote:So ebay stepped in and said "look, really all the buyer is responsible for is paying". So they did away with negative feedback on the seller side. So, the buyer is ALWAYS right? Sorry, but that's a deplorable way of running a business.

Wonder if any members of the Coin Community Forum hold stock in ebay. Would be interesting to get their perspective. Anyone?

I sell on ebay , I wouldn't touch their stock with a ten foot pole . Much better stocks that pay a very decent dividend.
