Hi, I have what appears to be an ancient European coin. It is approximately 3 CM across and has 9 crudely placed Fleur de Lis emblems on one side and a single crown on the other. Any ideas on the possible origin and age?   |

 The overall style makes me think early 17th century but I'm not very confident. I'd guess a jeton (counter token), but even if so, it's not a design I recognize. Even for a jeton, it would be strange to not have lettering, and/or a recognizable emblem/coat of arms. |

I started off by agreeing with @j1m that you likely have a jeton here. I saw a similar pattern of nine fleur-de-lys in a couple places: jetons attributed to an anonymous French Prince of the Blood and Germany. The French versions are all stock photos from Alamy while the German piece can be accessed here: https://www.numiscorner.com/de/prod...-40-45-brassNeither one is a direct match, so then I used google lens on one of the Alamy pieces and found this which looks like a solid attribution: https://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotv...3e6ab8f4443eQuote:

Numista: 1/2 fanon, 1 fanon. At ~3 cm you probably have a full fanon, KM# 42 and Numista 113458. Definitely not a direction I would have thought of! AFAICT "fanon" is probably a French spelling of what is usually spelled "fanam". |
