I haven't bought anything in a looooong time, haven't even really been looking. Can't remember the last time I even opened my binders.
Thinking about selling off 99% of my collection, wondering what the market for Canadian (mostly colonial tokens XF40-MS) is doing these days. Or even just CDN material in general?
Cheers n thanks

Token market is soft at the mid-to-higher end compared to a few years ago thanks to some large collections becoming available. There are, of course, exceptions.
Entry level material is same old.

I'm finding that the 'good' stuff is getting harder and harder to find, with a fair amount of competition when something desirable pops up. Asking prices are somewhat high, and many desirable coins languish in dealer inventories because of this. This observation is for decimal coins only, as I don't collect tokens. Common coins that have been removed from PL sets and then certified are overpriced for what they are, in my opinion, with the exception of earlier material.

There's always a decent market for quality and the internet makes it way easier to sell stuff for market value than it once was pre-internet. The broader collectibles market definitely made a big leg-up after COVID, but that's cooling and you're starting to see prices come down a bit from the mania-highs of 2021-22.

Quote: I haven't bought anything in a looooong time, I also have slowed down my purchases, actually coming to a grinding stop for about a month now. The exception being from the RCM: Fine Silver Proof Dollar - Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Fine Silver Proof Set - Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Require only one coin to complete my Canadian Commemorative silver dollar series. (proof, specimen & BU)
