I need help locating the VAM for this coin. I've tried looking on VamWorld but didn't see anything related to the clashes on this coin. I'm really new to this so not entirely sure which markers are needed so I'll list everything my untrained eyes see. Die Clash between I and N Die Clash to the right of F in OF and Die Chip at the base of F in OF Die Chip or Clash above L in DOLLAR Grease or Polish behind GOD Grease or Polish next to Eagle's Right Leg Large Polished Spot above Eagle Marks Behind L in LIBERTY Thank you for your and expertise!

The 1921 Morgans are notoriously hard to attribute unless it's one of the well-known varieties. If there are no die cracks to go by, you may be in for some frustration. I don't think what you are seeing as clashing is, in fact, clashing since they are not occurring in the usual places nor look like the usual Morgan die clash remnants. They look like some sort of post-strike issues. You may be able to narrow this down based on "LIBERTY."

Thanks Bump111! What should I look for in LIBERTY? Die Scribbles?

I see some tell tale clashing behind ladies head. Also check in between bow.

Apologies Odee13 but I am very new to this. Can you give a better idea of where to look "behind ladies head"?

Quote: What should I look for in LIBERTY? Die Scribbles? Yes - look for polishing lines in any of the low areas of the coin (high areas on the die.) These are often visible in the letters of LIBERTY and, as was stated above, you can also find these inside the bow on the reverse. I can't say for sure that there is clashing behind Liberty's head from your photo, but we don't often see the classic clashing in that area on the 1921s as we do on the earlier version.

Quote: Can you give a better idea of where to look "behind ladies head"? I circled the area where clashing was suggested. If you can get a closeup of that area, we can figure out if it is a clash.

Hi Guys, Here is the requested zoomed in image behind Lady Liberty's head. Also something I forgot to mention is the obverse was struck with a misaligned die (shifted slightly to the left). If a die clash occurred while the die was misaligned would the clashes show up shifted to the right of where they normally appear?

No clashing in your close-up. Could be you have a standard 1921.
