I have found a 1978 (p) LMC and it weighs 2.54grams and is 95% Cu. The best I can come up with is its a LMC struck on a Liberia Cent Planchet. I have not measured it yet, looking for calipers for accuracy. If this is a US cent minted on a foreign planchet is it worth getting graded?

also, can you please post up larger images of your coin (not on the scale) cropped to the coins edge. That way we may see more detail that we can use to help you.

I will have better pictures tomorrow, and use a normal cent for reference. Thank you.

That's pretty light. 2.98 g is the low side tolerance. Rolled thin stock would be the most obvious answer then there is the "foreign planchet" argument that I have no idea if that could happen in 1978.

The US did produce 1 cent copper coin for Liberia and the coin weigh 2.6g
Here is Numista info on them:

Liberia Cent: https://en.numista.com/4769
Composition - Brass (95% Copper, 5% Zinc)
Weight - 2.6 g
Diameter - 18 mm
Thickness - 1.5 mm

US Cent: https://en.numista.com/42
Composition - Bronze (95% copper, 5% zinc)
Weight - 3.11 g
Diameter - 19 mm
Thickness - 1.30 mm

The size and thickness are very similar but the weight of each is different.

this link http://minterrornews.com/news-5-13-...he_mint.html has a 69 page PDF on foreign coins. But is shows that the 2.59g Liberian Cent was only minted at San Francisco, confusing me more. Here are some additional pictures. Thanks for your help.
