FGMC New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 12/14/2025 11:38 pm Hi All, recently returned to roll searching and found this 1981 D Jeff Nickel. The obverse is nice and clean but the reverse is perfectly smooth, with a shiny golden luster. Some lettering is visible but no depth or texture whatsoever, and Monticello is just an outline but perfectly smooth and the rim is perfectly smooth as well. The diameter appears to be correct at appx 21.2mm, but the weight is only 4.8g vs the expected 5. I have never seen anything like it and am wondering if this could be a grease or planchet error or if someone may have simply ground all the texture off with some kind of power tool post-mint? Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? Any ideas how this could occur at the mint or post-mint? Thanks much for any help and ideas !!!
