All notes in the listing appear to have the same serial number GKV9181892

Looks pretty real to me..which is scary!

"Free local pickup from Delta, British Columbia, Canada."
Perhaps an undercover cop will take him up on the offer & throw in a $5.00 bid for his $100 copies!

Did anybody read the description? It's "Prop" money - now the question is: is it legal to sell prop money? Is there something on those bills that designate them as such?

"Item description from the seller": "PROP CANADA MONEY polymor"

I guess he means "Polymer"?

Counterfeit currency has been the subject of a December 11, 2025 news report. Notes with the same serial number are being used to purchase electronics in the Edmonton area. They must be reasonably good quality to be passed as currency. I doubt that there is anything on the bills that designate them as "prop money", but I could be mistaken.

I am attaching a link to short YouTube video of the news report.
(I hope this is permitted on this site.)

The fake $100 notes in this news report have the same serial number (& prefix) as those being peddled on ebay.

That's correct. The serial number is GKV9181892. It looks like these notes are coming from the same supplier.

I think the listing has been modified as I don't remember seeing the "buy it now option" the first time I saw the listing. It also looks like the seller has $4,000 worth of the stuff.

A few things found on the internet:

5 Non-Negotiable Criteria for Legitimate Canadian Prop Money

When evaluating vendors or individual batches, apply these five evidence-based filters—each grounded in Bank of Canada guidelines, forensic document analysis, and production experience:

1) Size deviation: Must be at least 25% larger or smaller than genuine notes (e.g., 150 × 75 mm instead of 152.4 × 70 mm). Exact-size replicas—even with disclaimers—are legally precarious.

2) Dual-side disclaimer: "PROP MONEY" or "NOT LEGAL TENDER" must appear in #8805;12-point bold type on both front and back—not just one side or buried in fine print.

3) Material integrity: Polymer-based props (not paper) replicate the stiffness, crinkle resistance, and slight translucency of real Canadian notes. Paper substitutes curl, tear under studio lights, and fail UV testing.

4) Colour fidelity—not replication: Use Pantone-verified inks that echo—but do not duplicate—official hues (e.g., "Maple Red C" instead of exact #C8102E). Genuine notes use proprietary optically variable ink; props must avoid any iridescence or colour-shifting effects.

5) Watermark absence or stylization: Real notes feature embedded polymer watermarks. Legitimate props either omit them entirely or render them as flat, non-translucent graphics (e.g., a white-outline maple leaf with no depth).

Tip: Hold prop bills up to a bright LED light. If you see a faint, three-dimensional watermark or a clear security thread, reject them immediately—these violate Bank of Canada's "clearly distinguishable" standard.

In short, you can buy and own it for legal purposes, but misuse it for transactions, and you're breaking the law.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I think these notes violate at least 2 of the criteria which means they can't be considered prop money.
2) no disclaimer
4) the ebay photo indicates some iridescence on the bills

The notes are probably the same size as a regular note which violates number 1) as well.
