howell1018 Pillar of the Community United States 713 Posts	Posted 05/13/2026 12:49 am I've been proof sets and commemoratives from the Mint for over 50 years and have to say in that time I've never received a coin that didn't appear to be less than MS70. I must either be lucky, or as my wife used to say "blind" (this usually when I asked her where something in the kitchen was.) Seriously, I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison of similar coins, one graded MS70, and the other MS69 pointing out the deficiency in the one graded MS 69. I can't, for the life of me, see what's wrong with the 69. Report this Post to the Staff

No one can tell the difference by posting pictures in a thread - you would need to have both coins magnified and the MS69 discrepancies would need to be pointed out with some type of indicator showing you what they are and where they are at. Sometimes even the TPG's get it wrong.......... "MS-70 (Mint State 70): Flawless condition. A 5x magnification reveals no imperfections, scratches, or handling marks." "MS-69 (Mint State 69): Nearly perfect. Contains minute, often hard-to-see flaws, such as minor blemishes, hairlines, or contact marks from the minting process. Therefore, I only buy coins graded 69 and save my money. I have one 70 in my collection, only because it was a deal I could not refuse. livingwater Pillar of the Community United States 2213 Posts	Posted 05/15/2026 6:40 pm Comparing MS69 to MS70 is supposed to be a little different but depends on how correct the coin was graded. Look at this MS69, no way a MS69 to my eyes. I bought it on ebay a few years ago, sent it back for refund after I saw how damaged it really was. Grading is an opinion anyway.
