It appears to be a badly corroded or stained coin. Not an error.

Generally, any coin that isn't silver and is just a standard business strike is worth it's face value.
Obviously, if there are some specifics like a rare key date, silver, or certain error coins, they will
worth more than their face value.

I.E., one cent will be worth a cent, a nickel worth a nickel, a dime is worth a dime,
a quarter worth a quarter, half dollar worth a dollar... And so on.

There is no premium for damaged coins, it is worth 50 cents.
