American Numismatic Society - First awarded in 2014, the American Fighter Aces Congressional Gold Medal honors US military pilots who have destroyed at least five enemy aircraft in aerial combat during an active war or conflict. Join Gregg Wagner (Executive Director of the American Fighter Aces Association) for a firsthand look into the development of this medal. In addition to seeing alternative designs, expect to learn more about the history of American Fighter Aces and the challenges of ushering a gold medal through Congress.

Cool. Would have liked to have seen WW2 naval aviation represented in some form. Too, Richard Bong and his P-38 mount would have been worthy. Yes, only so many aircraft can be shown on a medal...

The Milwaukee airport's Mitchell Gallery of Flight has a nice display dedicated to Richard Bong. Never made it to Superior, WI, to see the historical center named in his honor.
