Are they struck or is it made into the collar, and at what point are they put there if struck, before or after the coin itself is struck? JimmyD Bedrock of the Community Canada 21787 Posts	Posted Today 1M ago To add to the site that -makecents- supplied, the lettering is applied on a seperate machine by a disc with raised lettering known as a roller die. This is prone to slippage which can give the appearance of Machine Doubling. This is run at high speed so many minor anomolies can occur which add no value to the coin. Report this Post to the Staff
