Noticed this obverse when looking at a couple new dimes this afternoon. Are the trails off the right obverse letter tips just deterioration patterns, or is that possibly a trail die from polishing?

I'm thinking Trail Die. It was over polished. As you can see, the lines are consistent with a Trail Die error.

Well, interesting! I will try to get some better images tomorrow. It seems that the trail dies site has suspended submissions. Might have been fun to find the first official 250th trail die!

Yes, seems so.
I tried submitting a coin last year, no response.

I guess the other dimes from that roll should be checked, too. The odds that some of them came from the same bag are reasonably high.
