Looking for some help with a coin I came across today and can't find much information on the internet. I was weighing my coins and found a 1999 Canadian penny with a weight of 2.64g instead of 2.25. I'm not sure if this would be struck on the wrong planchet, any help would be appreciated.

For the copper plated zinc cents I believe it is +-.166g tolerance.
The OP's cent could have been struck from slightly thick stock.

I agree. It's a likely possibility.

2.64 is more than 17% overweight, it should be noticeably thicker, if a collectors spouse was suddenly 17% heavier they would notice.

In 1999 there was also a copper plated steel penny that weighed 2.35 grams. There should be a P under the queens bust if it is copper plated steel.

The 1999P coins (1-50 cent) were test coins for the vending industry
and were available to the public in special sets and not issued for circulation.
I doubt that test coins would have any weight variation beyond normal tolerances.

I appreciate everyone's comments. See the below pictures, it's the coin in question(left) compared to a regular 1999(right), it is not noticeable larger in thickness or general size. It's also non-magnetic and there is no P mint mark under the bust.
