I thought pre-cud at first but after a closer look I'll say it's a lamination crack.

RCD-1c-1944-S-03R has a similar look.

I'm thinking it might be a Lamination.

Looks like a pre Cud with lamination issues. Try zooming in where the crack/split crosses from the bust to the rim on the far right. You should be able to see if it's a crack or split in that area.

Thanks for the replies. I'll get some better closeups later but it doesn't look like a crack to me. It looks like a folded over struck through foil. There is debris buildup to the outside but not on the inside which I think precludes this from being a die crack regardless if it touches the rim.

What I'm not sure is why "03R" is considered a Retained Cud since they seem to show the same "folded" phenomenon.

The shape and location is puzzling since it looks so much like a pre-cud.

I'm changing my opinion now with the updated pictures. I'm thinking a Struck Through Copper Foil error in my opinion. It seems too straight to be a Lamination error.
