How often do the pure nickel 5-cent pieces turn up in change these days? I live in the U.S. and have no way to go through change, so I was curious about the number still in circulation. I also have a strong interest in BU rolls (even the copper-nickel version) of Canadian nickels.

The Mint trys to harvest the pure nickel 5, 10 and 25 cents for remelting.

I am finding maybe one in twenty pre-1983 nickels in change.
