I can't seem to find anything I want to buy, and I don't feel any desire to sell anything. It's been months since I picked up anything new. Sellers seem to have tucked away really nice (for the grade) and interesting stuff...there lots of coins that meet the technical grade but are dark, nicked, or otherwise slightly less desirable than the "good for the grade" coins.
I'm hoping somebody else is feeling the same way and might be interested in doing some trading.

Consider collecting a series that cannot be completed.
I can think of two:
Ancients
World coins of all ages
I have been collecting both for many decades, and as both series have expanded in my collection, they have merged.
For optimum opportunity, I have always just acquired the best value for money coins as they have come along, that interest me. That way, I have continuously enjoyed the thrill of the hunt for a bargain, and have learned an enormous amount of collateral knowledge along the way.
The whole field of numismatics has opened up to me in this way. I has also enabled me to post in many areas of the CCF.
And I have always kept my interests within a budget.
This method of collecting for me has NEVER been boring!

Hi ! It's true that sometime coin's collecting can be bored. I also colelct stamp's and I find that it's more easy to trade, buy and sell. First it's easy to send or receive 100 stamps and more for low postage cost and they don't have the problem of the grade. Stamp's are mint, used or scrap. My collection of Canada are not soo advenced and I have a lot of dificulty to find something that I need at good price. I collect Very Fine until around 1955-60 and incirculated after that. A lot of coin's are too expensive ( specialy on ebay) and a another lot are overgraded and in same time too expensive... It's probably for these reason that I collect by period, now I'm more "on" but I can be 6 month and more to don't buy and look nothing. To be "active" at the moment I make some roll's searching and I just started a little collection of penny and nickel of USA. Thanks !

It only gets boring when you get to the coins you can't afford. Yes I'm bored now too.

"Winter blahs" I'm bored too. Sometimes I get the urge to roll search but it all too quickly passes.

lol part of it is shopping on ebay, for me. I'll bid on something, it'll "sell" for 2x trends, then gets relisted because someone was obviously trying to pump up the price.

I'm having fun doing some "open-end" trading right now. By "open-end" I mean sending out some random coins, but with value, for the same type of thing from others, either specified coins or random assortments.

Quote: It only gets boring when you get to the coins you can't afford. Yes I'm bored now too. That's a part of it for sure. There are several coins that are on my want list that are 1) well into the thousands, or 2) just not up for sale...and quite a few that are both, such as a round top 1893 10c - the #1 coin on my hit list for a long time now. SHAFTA9a, I am not at all opposed to doing a little US collecting. The S-VDB, 1916-D and 1937-D 3 leg are all on "the list", but are also not exactly being given away by dealers.
