I know of one, Litotes, who frequents CCF.
How old are your coins? The older (19C.) ones can get valuable.

I moved this to the 'World Coins and Commemoratives' forum. Hopefully it will get some more attention here.

If your coins have been collected over time, it's always possible you might have some scarcer mintages in there, such as an 1875 5 Øre, 1921,23 Øre, 1910 Krone, any coin from 1942 bearing a crown--there's a long list of potential keys. You're lucky to have a lot of possibilities.

Here's a site where you can plug in dates/denominations and get a rough idea of value.

I am Norwegian and have a fairly extensive knowledge about all Norwegian coins. I will do my best to help - what would you like to know? For value, look first for coins older than 1924. After that most coins only have significant value in higher grades - with a few exceptions. A 1942 set of 10, 25 and 50 øre with yellow color would be very nice indeed, but don't expect to find one. 2 øre 1968 would be even better but don't expect to find that either. 5 or 50 øre 1945 in iron/zink would also be real finds.

Thanks Litotes. Were any coins ever silver or not? I will update this thread with some coins later.

These are silver coins:

2 kroner 1876 - 1917
1 krone 1875 - 1917
50 øre 1874 - 1919
25 øre 1876 - 1919
10 øre 1874 - 1919

In addition, everything with denomination bigger than 20 kroner will be commemmorative silver (or gold) coins. 10 kroner 1964 is also made in silver, almost 20 years before the denomination was introduced as common currency.

There were also silver coins pre-1874, pretty much everything that looks shiny.
