I recently came across this coin and I couldn't seem to locate it in the standard catalog of world coins. I think that it is from Spain under the reign of Ferdinand IV, the date 1755. I found some information about the coin at this site ( http://www.maravedis.net/fernando6_ardite_1.html ). If there is anything you could tell me about the grade of this coin and where to find it in the standard catalog of world coins, that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

This coin is indeed from Spain, more particularly minted in Barcelona in 1755.
Catalog value is 30 euro in my Calico (2008 edition) - type 133 Number 700.
With this quality, it's worth a bit less than 10 euros (got a high grade one I bought for 15 euros - 1756 though with another design - for that design I have an undated one for 7 euro and a dated one in better shape for 13)

BTW, maravedis.net is a greate place to start about spanish coins - I started my collection there :)

Ah, thank you. Is Calico the name of a catalog of world coins, and is it worth getting if I already have the Krause standard catalog of world coins?

Calico is the name of one of the specialized spanish catalogs (and also of the auction hours of the same name).
Unless you collect spanish coins only, don't get it :) http://www.aureo.com/en/catalogo

You should be able to find this coin in the proper dated Krause, under spain - regional coins.
I don't have one to check though right now though :/

Finally got my hand on a numeric version of Krause, 5th edition, 1701-1800.
And I can confirm you that this coin is not in Krause - neither in provincial spanish coinages, nor spanish coinages.
It doesn't mean the coin is scarce though, just that it's a 2 year regional issue (and the other one I got is a one year issue) which they didn't bother listing.
