I see a large number of these 5 Piastre 1940 notes on-line (i.e. Banknotes, ebay, etc.) but very few, if any, with this obverse and dam reverse.

Any info appreciated. I see the "issued under" date, but is 1940 the date of issue?

hey btsmith I think the note is "Egypt - Egyptian Government - Law 50/1940 ND Issues - P163 - 5 Piastres"

1940 is not necessarily the date of issue - the notes were issued undated - 1940 refers to the date of the applicable note issue "law"
