What do you guys think of this coin? I feel it is well overpriced @ $25, however... I really love it. And I think the date being 11.11.11 will help it. But my concern in buying it, is that the $5 al/br coins never increase in value!

What's everyone else doing with this one?
Buy or 'meh'?

I'm leaning towards 'meh', at $15 I prolly woulda wasted the money on its aesthetic appeal!...

... but then I think... $25... overpriced... maybe lots of people won't buy and it might have long-term value!

help me!

Like all things it's totally up to you if you want to buy it.
If you like it then go for it.

This hasn't caught my attention, its unlimited mintage- which means as long as people buy it they will keep making them for the promotional period and its over priced.

For $5 less you can get the queens visit -- which was what I was looking at as you can add the circulating $1 CHOGM to it. And royal stuff tends to have its own following of collectors.

Yes; you're correct Australian Coin, but funnily enough, so does remembering war stuff... victoria cross and vietnam war dollar coins spring to mind as war stuff which has jumped in price! -

1995/2005/2009-2011 Australia Remembers series.

... thinking the mint likes to make war themed coins!

The unlimited mintage doesn't throw me on this one because it is so over priced I can't imagine it being a 'hit'.

When I heard of this coin I imagined a scalloped hendecagon (that was my word of the week a few weeks ago) would be much more dramatic once seen than the coin actually looks. I will pass on buying this one.

You are right, it has positive that it is military theme but the $5 coins are always duds. What about the 1990 Anzac Simpson and his donkey $5 -dud.
