This is a neat find it looks like the E in liberty was some how missing after the strike but left the E mark through the copper layer any ideas ?

It appears to be post production damage. Maybe from a coin counter or such.

If you look close it appears that there are some artifacts of a bubble that was under the copper. Maybe when the coin was struck the bubble was forced into the "E" making the entire "E" hollow and just the copper plating which then flaked off. Just a thought
