Here's a nice example of the 1891 die chip in C - CENT, on the left in the early stages when it was still small, and on the right, in the late stages, fully "chipped".
This die chip changed dramatically with die state. I put a composite picture in D & D that shows four different die states with four different appearances to the chip.
It's a great variety and one that's certainly underpriced in the 2011 catalogue. I've owned examples of this from the thinnest, barely perceptible chip on C to the thick curve the die break became. Great coin!
