I am sure you are referring to the condition of the coin as sadly 'nice' would be a stretch to describe the design... ;-)

Yes Steve, I was referring to the condition of the coin. Looking at the coin earlier I thought that the design was not so great. It looked like reflections off some surfaces make parts of the design appear like a photo negative while other parts stay normal.

Unless I go looking for coins I do not tend to handle that many.

I'm in the US and don't collect this or any other Australian coins, but I just wanted to comment on this piece.
I've seen the design of this coin and Kate looks horrendous. She's extremely beautiful in person, but they made her look homely to say the least. William doesn't look much better. I can't imagine anyone asked them if they approved of this portrait because they surely would have said no. I wonder if they're mad? I wouldn't want my likeness butchered on a circulating coin without any say in it.

In Wollongong here, Woolworths near me have gotten bags and bags of these and this is what the self serve checkouts are spitting out along with the womans 20c coin. the coin have the usual bag marks but they are in excellent condition. I always pay with eftpos and withdraw an extra 80c to get them, got over 20!

does this make the coin collectable as nobody just now wants to keep any? Just saying....
