going through some of my mercs, I came across a couple questionable dates...

First up is a 1942D, there seems to be a lot mushiness around the date, including something in the "2" between the tail and the...butt(?) Is this just a deteriorating die?

next is a 1945D, there looks like something under the "19". when I saw the "1" I thought it might be PMD, but then the "9" stood out a little more distinctly. thoughts?
