I was rolling pennies over the weekend and came across this coin. On one side it says United State of America 1931 on the other it says 5 Centavos Filipinas. Was wondering if it's worth anything. Find it strange that it has USA on one side and Filipinas

1931-5-Centavos-United-States-Filipinas

1931-5-Centavos-United-States-Filipinas on the other. Any info would be very appreciative.

At the time the Philipines was a US territory, so US-Filipino coins were minted for commerce over there. What you have is normal.

It's a common find. Especially since a good amount of Philippines coins were brought back to the US by servicemen after WWII. This is a piece from when the US administered the Philippines directly, that's pre-commonwealth (commonwealth meaning the transition period to Independence). The obverse crest shows that in that it uses a version of the Union Shield, whereas commonwealth coins show a localized heraldic shield. On the reverse is a depiction of a man with an hammer and anvil in front of Mt. Mayon, which is the standard reverse image for all one and five centavo coins well into the 1960s.

The mintage figure for this is 3,477,000, which is second only to 1932M in terms of 5 centavo pieces of that era. The book value of this coin in VF condition is $2.70. In terms of metal content, it's about 4.75g of copper-nickel. So, hope that gives you an idea of the value.

By the way, welcome to the forum, I noticed it's your first post.
