I have a chance to buy an MS65 1937s. My question, one is PCI they will sell at 38$ the other is PCGS that they won't go under 65$. They both look the same to my and is it worth that much more for the PCGS? Even the dealer says they are both the same. This will be my first "graded" coin ever, as I have always searched through rolls or bought "ungraded". Any advice will be helpful, Thanks.

Don't buy the PCI, because at some point you will have to sell it as a PCI. Buy the PCGS with an offer of $50 (go $55 if required) - it's a buyer's market now.

Always buy the best.

Danester, Thanks. They have the PCGS listed at 90$ he says the lowest he will go is 65$. I know it's less than 30$, but everything adds up. Also, he had the PCI listed at 50$

I don't know about the $90 you quote, but PCGS price listings which is generally considered high, has a 1937-S Buffalo nickel MS-65 at $48, and a Plus grade at $54.

I would not get too hung up on a specific coin (unless there is something unusual about it; colorful toning, off center, etc...), if the seller will not come closer to Fair Market Value (numismedia.com FMV is $59) on a coin, tell them "thanks, and good luck". Check back after some time (week or more) and see if it still available, then make your offer again. It may surprise you that they may be more willing to sell at FMV than take up space and inventory. Ultimately it is up to you whether or not you really want that coin.

I'll just wait a bit and see, but from my experience this store always says they can just sell them at shows and won't come down on pricing. My first post was asking about a store I've seen on ebay that is somewhat near us as we are not near a big city. We have limited places to purchase at. once I make it to the post limit, I'll be able to purchase from members on CCF. Thanks for all the info and I'll let you know what happens. I don't have anything graded so we can wait a while.
