I was finally able to pick up one of these for what I thought was a decent price. I do have a rookie question however? AU "details" What exactly does a details grade mean and what effect does it have on the over all value? There is a mark on the coin at the 5 o'clock. Any comments and grade would be appreciated. Thanks Much

Usually "details" will mean an issue with cleaning or damage of some kind. My example, bought through mail order decades ago, is bright but obviously cleaned with extensive cleaning marks. You coin does not show such rough cleaning in your photo.

Anyone from So Cal, and in particular from SD, should be able to locate themselves exactly in Balboa Park with the scenic information shown on this coin.

Happy orienteering!

Can't wait to purchase that coin! I have lived in San Diego my whole life. I'm just 15 minutes from Balboa Park.

Yep! I have one myself.

'Why?' may you ask?

My daughter in law's folks live in National City.

And I have stood in that exact same spot in Balboa Park from which that picture on the coin can be seen!

She used to live in Brant Street, right under the approach to Lindbergh Field. You could almost see the pilot's faces as they flew over her house!

This is one of my favorites of the series and great for you to finally find one that you are happy with!

... and I as well do not see any evidence of obvious cleaning in your photos ... although they are a bit out of focus.

It's not possible for me to offer a grade opinion from the photos ... but I do send along my Congrats for you acquiring a lovely coin from my favorite USA set.

Having grown up in San Diego, I'm going to have to look for that one.
That's a really nice coin.
