Just picked up a White's Eagle Spectrum metal detector from a 93 year old friend of mine. He and his son bought it new many years ago but this detector looks like it just came out of the box.

I am thinking I may need a new battery and hope they can still be bought for this detector.

Now, where the heck to start looking and the like.

Start looking in your yard, first place to look. Let us know how it works and what you find.

The Eagle Spectrum is great machine, I have had mine for many years and never a problem with it, has paid for itself multiple times. And yes, you can still get a new battery for it, Kellyco has them.

Just charged up the old battery today and it seems to be working fine. I will have to read the manual, but I see the presets are pretty self-explanatory.

BTW, about how far down does this metal detector find coins and the like?

Thanks,

That's the first thing I did when I first got mine
and my neighbors lawn...she was at work

Found mostly Jeffersons and Lincolns.

I've heard that even a lot of the old ones can go about 12 inches down when using all metal mode or something like that. I hear that discrimination reduces the depth.
