Is this date an overdate, die doubled or machine/ejection doubling? The first picture didn't turn out too well, but the second one without the flash is zoomed in on the date.

That's no Machine Doubling, that's a die variety of some kind. Massive clashing going on too. Awesome.

That is not a dime, it is a nickel 3 cent piece with a repunched date(RPD).

there is a double date variety for this year and a clashed die variety, my book says the double date is shifted NE

With a better picture of the date and the reverse, it should be possible to definitively attribute it. Based on the extreme doubling of all four digits, it resembles FS-3N-1865-304 found in the Cherrypicker's Guide.

The obverse shows a strong clash too.

I'm looking in my Cherrypicker's Guide and it is a dead ringer for the repunched date variety "FF: RPD-003". The prices in the guide for this one are roughly double that of a normal 1865. Good find!
