Could someone please post pics of the large and small date 1982 Lincoln cents? My Intercept Shield album has seven slots for them. I was reading that part of the difference has to do with poor strikes... I've looked at a bunch of 1982 cents now, and they seem to be all over the place.

Any help with pics so I can sort them all out would be most helpful and very appreciated! Thanks!

Small date zinc

1982-Large-And-Small-Date-Lincoln-Cents..-Help-Needed-Please

The "large date" the 2 is shaped like the 2 in this text as opposed to the more curvy 2 of the small date. Seen side by side it is obvious. As for copper and zinc. A zinc cent weighs 2.5 grams and a copper 3.1 grams. If you don't have a scale they are many less accurate ways to check for zinc or copper, but weight it the best.

These ones are pretty easy. Check out this page. The shape of the 2 is really really different.

It has nothing to do with poor strikes, two different hub designs were used for Large and Small date coins. The LCR page is ok but it ignores other differences besides the date, LIBERTY and the motto are also different.

Perfect! Thank you so much!

I also read that there is no premium between these? They are all moire or less fairly common?

Thanks again! This is why I love CCF!

Yeah, all seven are common enough. I found all but one of them in acceptable condition for my Dansco in the first box I searched for them. The remainder appeared in my pocket change some time later (I don't recall which it was).

The zincs are going to be harder to find (around here anyways) and they'll not be all that nice. I've only found about 1/4 roll each of P&D worth keeping.

Ahh, according to the pics in the link above, the large date "2" looks to be actually thicker than the small date; interesting.
