I think I found the Christmas gift for my father in-law (ex-military)... nice coin.

For every coin sold $20 will be donated to the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial and the Military Families Fund. Way to go Mint

I may have to get one as well.
My brother was placed in Afghanistan for about 7 months (infantry). He had a few close calls but did make it home.

@RoyalCanadianMint, I'll give you negative feedback if you like. It is a shame the coin is half ounce instead of a full ounce. :)

Unable to order... The RCM web site is no longer responding. Must be due to the extreme demand.

The RCM had a table at Nuphilex Coin Show today. I bought this coin today and I must say, it is absolutely a stunning design, for this theme. In June 2010, while driving to Torex, I visited a coin-collecting friend in Trenton. When I pulled back on to Highway 401, I looked in my mirror and I was less than 1 km in front of a procession for a soldier returning 'home'. The overpasses were packed, and it was a very moving experience. This coin captures EXACTLY what I saw, from the perspective of the highway... and the 'mirror' under the overpass on the coin is perfect - allowing us to reflect why these sacrifices are being made.... This coin will be my father in-law's Christmas present. I think I will have to buy a second coin, for a good friend of mine currently serving in Afghanistan who lost a good friend, and a third one, for myself... Well done, RCM. You deserve the 'slow clap' I am giving you now...

SPP, thank you for a warm and emotionally filled description of the coin. I served in the military myself and have family members also serving. I don't always agree with the government and what it does with its forces, but I agree with you.
I finally ordered mine with Pierre directly because the web site was still jacked up.

Post a nice picture of it for us C_C? It looks like a well done coin and for many reasons that are worth putting on a coin - all politics aside.

Just touching in to let you know that we've now raised over $100K in support of the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial and the Military Families Fund. Thanks to everyone who is supporting these two great causes!

Got mine today. Really a nice coin. But agree it would have been nice had they been a full ounce.
