It occurred to me this past week that the grounds of old, established churches can be a good place to scan for coins.

I am in the South and my church has a very large area covered by grass. I am thinking of how many events, and people, have been on the grounds over the past few decades or more and thinking it could be a good place to scan for coins.

I will have to ask the Pastor what he thinks of the idea. As long as the grass is not damaged, I think it will be fine.

Later,

Kenscott

Sounds like a good idea and yes get permission. Only thing is that you may be dealing with a high metal trash area when there was a lot people around.

As long as you give 10% to the church, after you get permission.

You may want to hope that the area is trashy. If the soil is clean, the yard's picked clean too. You never know till you try, good luck there.
I'll never forget the time (recently) where a fellow detectorist dug a dozen Indian Head cents, in a 50 X 30' church yard right downtown.
