Signed up for the 8 free gradings and put together my package to send in.

Here's what they will be looking at first:

1937 Washington 25c. Beautiful toning and solid strike. I think it's MS-66 but could do better *fingers crossed*

1958 Washington 25c Proof. Rich black and white cameo- could go DCAM. Spotless, scratchless, firm strike. Maybe PF-68. My grandmother bought this coin in 1958.

1959 Washington 25c. Best looking Washington I've ever seen. Frosty center, almost cameo'd bust surrounded by rich natural DANSCO rainbow toning around the rim and over the numbers and letters. I own a 1958 PCGS MS-66 and this coin beat the snot out of it.

1944 S Mercury 10c. Rich mirrored fields peppered with feathery golden toning. Hardly a scratch under 10x magnifaction. Were it not for the date and mint mark, I'd swear it was a proof. Hoping for MS-67

I'm excited for you!

Appears to be a great group of coins to submit ... be sure to follow all the submittal rules and check all the appropriate boxes on the PCGS form.

I strongly suggest that you consider shipping via US registered mail ... this is the golden standard for safety and quite honestly is less expensive (when you consider insurance) than any other method of USPS shipping.

Looking forward to learning about the results ... have some patience as this might take a month or so unless you are paying for expedited handling.

My first submission after attending my second grading course at ANA summer seminar I had 2 Morgan dollars I thought were sure thing 66's when they came back from PCGS one was body bagged (days before slabing cleaned coins with details grade or genuine), the other only ranked a MS-62? I knew I wasn't that far off, but MS-62? I cracked it out sent it into ANACS got MS-64 that try, the coin I sold off as dipped on ebay still a great looking coin.

Hope you do better than I did my 1st time out!

to continue, though it sounds like you have some great coins, love to see the 1959 Quarter you describe, photos? To be fair PCGS, NGC were both pretty new back then the grades weren't really up to snuff every submission, they learned - as I did over the years, grading has changed quite a bit, (for the better) I think, but refresher courses are always good. My biggest trouble area in grading is the WL half, some of the weaker struck Buffalo nickels get me some times too, but finally I think the high end grades are pretty acurate lately (save for some of the modern proof stuff mass graded out there).

PCGS has always been the #1 ANACS IMHO has taken over #2 from NGC the past year or so. But when it comes to high end coins I want them in PCGS holders still.

You guys are going to have to wait on the photos. I don't have a rig that's up to snuff to take close ups. I'll have real photos taken when they are in slabs. And you guys are right about what to expect vs. what to get. Some of these coins could be high dollar coins if my assumptions are true- and if I'm wrong- they are worth considerably less. That's the fun part of the game. I do have four more slots- I will wait to see how I did before determining which coins to fit in those slots.

Thanks for the great comments. :)
