some more before and after pictures. Too bad I had to take off the silvering to get it looking like this. I have some of this coin when I first got it I will look around it looked bad and was a green encrusted mess.

I didnt take a picture of the reverse because I didnt think this coin would turn out and it was all flat with no detail.

You have to be careful that you do not remove the patina from the coin. You don't want the bare metal to show. This is overcleaning and can make the coin subject to bronze disease and reduce it value. This coin and the last one you posted have been overcleaned a bit. It's going to take years for that patina to come back, unless you use chemicals to add a patina. When I first started cleaning coins I overcleaned some nice coins that still remain bright ten years later. I don't mean to sound harsh, I just want to pass on some advice to a fellow collector.

ok, thanks echizento I will try not to overclean them like this any more I was wondering about that, I usually treat the stubborn ones that dont show details, this one was a flat disc on the reverse and I agree it was probably better off on the 4th cleaning maybe even the 3rd. I have to watch myself I can get carried away on my days off

I saw one video how to make patina of copper coins and they are many ways but the video is on russian.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0nih22ysS8 .Серной Мазью is my favorite and here how to make it
Take lard and sulfur powder in a bowl and warm fat n so far for 1 minute and put sulfur and mix them with spoon.Take the solution and scrub the coin and if you do not like the results just take a towel with soap and will be like befoure. This solution is very greasy!
I use that solution for my copper coins when I clean them and I plate them with this :) you can try but on other coin but need to be copper.
