The 38 looks a lot cooler in hand with it's toning pattern. The 44D is pink in color and very lusterous.

The '38 looks AU because of the left wheat ear and a little bit of wear on the right ear. Still an excellent coin. I'd say AU-50

The 44-d:

If the last pic is truly the Rev., I'd say a bit above AU-50. Otherwise I'd say AU-50
