Found this in a roll. It's the only '64D I've ever found that I enjoyed looking at!

AU?

It looks nice in the pics but I think the stairs on the reverse are important for grading and there is some glare there. Assuming you have full stairs on that coin, I'd say AU...but wait for the experts.

Nice find.

I was wrong...sheesh ...I just looked up the grading standards in the coin facts (which I should have done first) and it is all about the pillars on the obverse. So sorry for my mistake. I'm still learning.

1964 D nickels were minted to the tune of 1,787,297,160.
The dies got a workout but to me yours looks like an earlier die state and the wear on the dies and the the periodic maintenance they received in service would take away some detail.
I think it has some contact marks and a medium strike with even some step detail. It could be either AU58 or as good as MS64. I think one or the other is correct. I would have to have it in hand to tell if it was in circulation for a short time.
It is worthy! Not this worthy but worthy.
I keep nice all of the 1960's coins I encounter with eye appeal too.
