I have not submitted any coins for grading in a number of years. I have accumulated a few coins in old ANACS, NGC and PCGS holders that I feel would likely grade a point or two higher. One is a nicely toned 1893 Isabella Quarter that is graded ms62. In comparing it to others I feel it might go 64, The coins are not very valuable but they are all decently valued and would certainly be worth it if they came back higher. Here is my dilemna, I do not want to crack these coins out of their original holders before sending them in. I want to send them to PCGS and plan on joining their collectors club to submit. Does anyone know if I can send them in and keep them in the holders. I would like PCGS to only crack them out IF they are going to grade them higher. If not, I would like them to be left in their old holders. Is this asking too much? Has anyone out there tried anything like this before? I would greatly appreciate any help or advice anyone might have. I am subscribing to this topic so I can see all replies. Sorry this post is so long, Bob

I did not see anything on crossovers to PCGS, but here is something from NGC about PCGS crossovers;

"PCGS-holdered coins are reviewed for NGC certification. Coins will be removed from their holders only if they can be graded at the same or higher than your specified minimum grade. Specify "ANY" as the minimum grade to have your coin crossed regardless of grade. Specify "DETAILS" to cross coins with detrimental surface conditions. NGC does not accept MS/PF70 coins for CrossOver at the same grade. You may not request a higher minimum grade than is on the current holder. Non-PCGS-holdered coins must be removed from their holders and submitted raw."

From PCGS:

Crossover: Use the "Crossover" service for coins previously graded by another grading service. Submit the coins in the holder to PCGS. We will grade the coins and put them in a PCGS holder only if the PCGS grade meets or exceeds the other grading company's grade (unless specifically instructed differently by you). You cannot specify a higher minimum grade. If the PCGS grade is lower than the other grading company's grade, we will return the coin to you in the original holder. MS/PR 70 coins must have a minimum grade of 69 or lower.

Thanks very much for the replies. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with crossovers from older slabs to new PCGS slabs?
