Here is an interesting ebay auction. Clearly the seller doesn't understand the diagnostics, and that it is a 1917 type 1 slq.

What especially intrigued me about this is the CoinWorld article! I checked the heritage sale:

This was the first dateless 16 I cherrypicked, if you check my old original thread! Sold on ebay, and now it made a CoinWorld article!

That's awesome. I had a chance to *perhaps* get one on ebay a couple weeks ago, but I wasn't willing to go more than his $500 starting bid. I think it went for $577.

Hi weerdsteve. I saw that auction, and that was also definitely a 16. I was considering bidding on it till I saw you and other folks were interested, it would have been a good buy at under 800.
Rest in Peace

Anyways, here is the article, and here are my original pics when it was raw. I'd really like to know what issue this is so I can own it, but I'm afraid to ask the seller because he may be ticked to find out it's a 17. Does anyone have a CoinWorld subscription?

Wow, had I known yours sold for so much I would have bid more on the one I spotted on ebay about a month ago. It was in one of those 40 coin lots. I was afraid to bid more than $350 for the whole lot, so I got beat out by the only person besides me that spotted it. Next time I'll bid more.

Based on the resposne Moe got from the seller that he posted in the other thread the seller seems like an honest down to earth guy who would probably tell you which issue if he knew. He might even send you his copy if you told him it was your coin in the photo

Hopefully the ebay seller made an honest mistake. As I've pointed out lotsa times its up to the buyer to beware. CAVEAT EMPTOR.
